This will be the star’s second Superbowl appearance after performing an outstanding version of the national anthem at last year’s Superbowl. Ever since then the NFL have been very interested in casting her as the headline act for this year’s performance. Lady Gaga has commented that it is a “dream come true” to be performing in the halftime show this year.

Superbowl 50, which saw the Denver Bronco’s triumph 24-10 over the Carolina Panthers, was the third most watched game in history reaching 111.9 million viewers. Millions worldwide tune in to watch the final every year with 800 million being the highest worldwide TV audience on record, with 150 million viewers in the USA alone.

There has been no word as to who will be performing alongside her yet but taking into account previous performers include the likes of Michael Jackson, Beyonce and Madonna, it is sure to be a star studded line up.

Lady Gaga has announced a “Guest of Honor” contest this month in conjunction with Pepsi and NFL giving fans a chance to win tickets to watch her perform at Houston’s NRG Stadium on Superbowl Sunday. She released a promo video discussing the nature of fame, the importance of her fans and how she aims to bring people together through music. Several loyal fans have already been selected for the privilege of watching their favourite star perform live at one of the biggest sporting events in the calendar.
