Event Recap: Luncheon for Taylor Swift: Storyteller exhibition at the Museum of Arts and Design

On July 20, 2023, Barbara Tober, Chair Emeritus Museum of Arts and Design, hosted a private luncheon and tourof the museum’s latest exhibition, Taylor Swift: Storyteller at the Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) located at 2 Columbus Circle in New York City.

MAD’s “resident Swifty”, Katherine Garcia, led the tour alongside MAD curators Elissa Auther and Alexandra Schwartz.

“Many of you have come up to me asking how this exhibition came to MAD and that is what we strive for. We want you to expect the unexpected when you come our Museum”

, shared MAD’s Director Tim Rodgers as he welcomed guests including , Peter Bacanovic, Gigi and Harry Benson, Machine Dazzle, Fe Fendi, Duncan Joseph, Lavon Kellner, Michele Gerber Klein, Harry Hill, Claudia Maree Mailer, Gillian McCain, Robert Molnar, Tinu Taija, Nimay Ndolo, and Nadja Swarovski.


 

Taylor Swift: Storyteller is MAD’s career-spanning look at the artistic reinventions of the 12-time GRAMMY Award–winning artist who is one of the most prolific songwriters in history.

 

Highlights include the cheerleader and ballerina ensembles from the award-winning music video for “Shake It Off” (2014); the red wedding dress and bellhop uniform from “I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault)” (2021); and the sparkling ensemble from “Bejeweled” (2022). Concert attire by couture fashion houses Cavalli, Gucci, Louboutin, YSL and more will be featured along with props, jewelry, ephemera, and projections of music videos rounding out the exhibition.

The exhibition will be on view exclusively at MAD through September 4, 2023.
