What You Will Love This Fall #Autumn

There are a lot of reasons to love the fall season. The kids go back to school. Your family finally gets back into some semblance of a routine. You might even have time to read a book that’s not meant for kids. The weather cools off and you can get your sweaters, coats, and fall shoes out of storage (everybody knows that fall fashion is the best fashion). Perhaps best of all, the new season of television shows starts up and you get to both find out what’s going on with your favorite returning shows as well as get to know (and hopefully love) some new characters.

In case you couldn’t tell, this article is going to be all about the things we love and are looking forward to checking out this fall season.

Fashion

Who doesn’t love sweater and boots weather? Fall is the best time for the fashion-minded among us. All of those great layers and different fabrics to choose from? Here are two of the fashions we’re loving this season.

Patchwork:  Different fabrics and patterns patchworked together into a single garment. In your head you’re probably thinking “wearing a quilt? really?” But when put together well, it looks really great. It’s a great way to experiment with patterns without looking like you stole the dustcovers off of your grandparents’ furniture.

Neons: Yes! Neon colors are making a comeback. Unlike in our misspent youths, however, these neons aren’t always making up the majority of a garment. Instead, they’re often used subtly as flares. Or, if the entire garment is neon, it is paired with something far more subtle and solid colored.

Television

There are so many great shows that you’ll want to check out and keep up with this fall. All of the Shondaland shows–Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, and How to Get Away With Murder–are back, picking up with their cliffhangery storylines and shocking reveals. Big Bang Theory will bring back everybody’s favorite geeks. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D will come back after perhaps the most jaw dropping last second cliffhanger of last season. Castle, Blacklist, and Grimm will all be back as well so get those DVRs ready.

There are also a bunch of new shows that are definitely worth checking out:

The Muppets: Yes. There’s going to be a new Muppet show. This show, however, is not going to be for kids. It’s a behind the scenes/reality type take on the Muppets and how they produce their own shows. Think Modern Family and Parks and Rec but with the Muppets. This is the show we’re most excited about this season.

A-gaggle-of-Muppets

The Catch: Shonda Rhimes has a new show. This is it. Do we really need to say more than that?

Scream Queens: This show is created by the team that made Glee a smash hit and we’re definitely looking forward to the shenanigans that will ensue in this hour long horror dramedy. Plus, it co-stars Jamie Lee Curtis!

Supergirl: For those unfamiliar, Supergirl is the younger female cousin of the famous Superman. The first season looks to be part origin story/part dramedic heroics and we’re super excited. Plus, it will co-star Calista Flockhart. Who doesn’t love Calista Flockhart?

PRO TIP: If you’re on a budget (and who isn’t with all of the fall fashions we’re buying this season) it is actually cheaper and easier to keep up with these shows via a DVR and good cable package. Books

You’re Never Weird on the Internet (Almost) is a wonderful memoir by the delightful Felicia Day. Felicia Day made a name for herself as one of the first people to successfully produce a web series (The Guild) and then went on to make regular appearances on shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Supernatural, and Eureka. She co-starred in Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog and is the co-owner of the Geek and Sundry YouTube Network. Her memoir will make you laugh and even cry a tiny bit and by the end you’ll want to be Day’s best friend.

Big Magic comes out late in September (or came out late in September depending on when you’re reading this) and is Elizabeth Gilbert’s latest follow up to her success with Eat Pray Love. This book, all about her creative process, aims to teach readers how to dare greatly and lean in to their own inspirations and creativity. If you were part of the Eat Pray Love community, you’ll love her latest.

There’s no doubt about it. Fall is the best season of the year. Hopefully this quick guide will help you make the most of it this year
