There are certain experiences and trips that stand out in a person’s life.
This may be due to a personal connection, the overall feeling garnered by the experience or let’s face it, it was just plain good ‘ol fun. Truth be told, the first person who came to mind when I was told I would be experiencing the new Buick Regal TourX edition, was my late Uncle who had so much style and charisma, he swore by Buicks. I never thought in a million years I would be flown to Arizona to now be one of the select few experiencing the new Buick car lineup.
Upon landing in Arizona, I was immediately greeted with a Buick rep and a beautiful gleaming black Enclave. Personally, it was love at first sight with the Enclave. This was my first indication that the three-day experience was going to be memorable. As we drove from the airport to the Phoenix Public Market Café, I couldn’t help but notice the butter-soft milk chocolate brown leather interior and how comfortable it felt as it contoured to my shape. They had to practically wake me up when we arrived at the café, a smooth ride and beautiful interior equals me sleep (disclaimer).
After a much-needed lunch, it was time for the introduction of the car that would be my accompaniment for the next three days, the 2018 Buick Regal TourX. I was given a beautiful smoked Pearl metallic color that instantly spoke to me. My initial reaction when I heard the car was a wagon was not the most upbeat but to my delighted surprise, this was no ordinary wagon. There was a style to it, a sleekness that had been missing from the wagon marketplace. However, I told myself to reserve my full reaction until I was able to thoroughly inspect the car inside and out. With the navigation pre-set by the Buick reps, I was off to the Kimpton Amara Resort and Spa where I would meet with the rest of the Buick team.
Immediately sitting in the vehicle, I noticed it felt as if I was in a sleeker version of a luxury sedan. The interior was similarly comfortable to the Enclave I was originally driven in to the café. The technology team thought of every nook and cranny possible to make the driving or riding experience one of leisure. I found several features such as the navigation and seamless Bluetooth pairing to favor the driver spending more time focusing on the road instead of trying to work the gadgets in his car (as it should be).
The TourX gripped the road masterfully and gave the sense of power from the 2.0T engine. However, one of the most interesting features was the active-twin clutch which anyone who resides in a region of the world with seasonal bad weather will need.
To break it down in simple form, it allows your car to never be stuck in mud, slide on slippery surfaces such as snow or be jammed due to unforeseen instances.
THE OVERALL EXPERIENCE
Upon arriving at the Kimpton Resort and Spa the Buick team consisting of marketing directors, technology officers, performance and key admissions directors greeted us willing to answer all questions we had about their new vehicle. What I really took from the experience is Buick really cares about their marketplace and the customers. They stressed during our experience to let them know anyway they could improve the driving experience for the customer and make their vehicles as safe and function friendly as possible.
Also, in pricing the TourX, they wanted to make it affordable for a wide variety of car buyers to be able to experience the quality and craftsmanship they put into the vehicle. A nice change from most competitors who are solely focused on selling and forgetting that customer loyalty is one of the bloodlines of any successful automotive company.
