Those dreading Michael Bay’s previously announced reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles can rest easy, as IGN is reporting that the movie’s pre-production has been shut down.
The film was intended to retell the story of everyone’s favorite heroes in half-shells, this time portraying them as aliens rather than sewer-dwelling, pizza loving turtles. Many long time fans of the turtles were irked by this, and perhaps the production staff has taken notice.
The film’s release date has been moved from December 2013 to May 2014. Let’s hope Michael Bay ditches the whole “Ninjas from space” idea and brings fans something closer to what they love about the characters.
