#NYFW interview with MarianDree Gaitan by Brana Dane @dane_brana

YRB contributor Brana Dane was selected as a model for the StyleWeek NYFW for Mariandree Gaitan Fall / Winter 2015 collection and managed to get an interview of the designer during her fitting:

YRB:  Tell us about your brand. Who is “your girl”?

MarianDree Gaitan: My girl is a woman who wants to be the center of attention in any event. She is self confident and dares to wear something different. She wants to stand out.

YRB: How do you pick your models?

MarianDree Gaitan: Most of my dresses have a fitted silhouette, that’s why I choose models with a small waist. Their personality also influences the choice a lot. I look for confident women and with strong personalities.

YRB: What was it like prepping for your show?

MarianDree Gaitan: Preparing for the show takes into account many important features, what I focus on the most is organizing everything regarding sizes and design style. The fitting is also a very important because one of my priorities is that all dresses really fit each model’s silhouette. And then the final touches like hair and makeup have to be simple because of the type of dresses in my collection.

YRB: How do you feel watching your designs walk down the runway?

MarianDree Gaitan: It was very exciting, to see embodied in real life what was first a drawing. I have no words to describe the feeling.

YRB: What’s the next step?

MarianDree Gaitan: The next step is to show my work in other runways from other countries and keep creating more collections.
