The NBPA established the Players’ Voice Awards in 2015 to provide players with a platform to express their opinions and honor the best in their league.
The PVA’s are the only awards voted on exclusively by the players of the NBA, deciding from a list of awards from the MVP and Most Respected Awards to the Freshest, Best Side Hustle, and People’s Champ Awards, and more. Awarded players include LeBron James, Kevin Durant, PJ Tucker, Rudy Gobert, Gordon Hayward and more.
To bring the Players’ Voice Awards to life, the NBPA called on Compound, a creative agency founded by Set Free Richardson, who selected 11 individual artists to curate notable award artwork.
The exhibit features artwork from Ron English, Naturel, BK The Artist, Free Hand Profit, King Saladeen, Dragon76, Bahar Bambi, Andre Trenier, Christophe Roberts, Devon Rodriguez, and the Vera Twins.
Together, the artists channel the NBPA’s message to represent and celebrate the collective Players’ voice.
Each artist created a unique illustration using various mediums to represent the winning player and their achievement.
More than just beautiful and impactful representations of the awards and their winners, each work of art speaks to the NBPA’s mission and core purpose to embody and celebrate the Players’ collective voice.
The exhibit is on view August 22-September 2, 2019
The Compound Gallery is located at 2242 Third Avenue, Bronx NY.
