Magazine ads and commercials are so 1990s, or at least that’s what Madonna thinks. The Queen of Pop is now becoming the queen of social media, as all of the promotion for her just-released album MDNA was done via the internet. The hype train started with a Facebook-only web interview with Jimmy Fallon, where she answered fans’ questions from around the globe.
Madonna then made a surprise appearance at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami, which was met by a predictably rabid response. While her appearance enough was enough to get the crowd going, she upped the ante by giving a shoutout to party-drug Molly, and introduced Avicii’s official remix of her song “Girl Gone Wild.”
The guerilla, interactive marketing continues tonight with a live Twitter chat at 10 p.m. EDT where fans can ask questions with the simple hashtag #askmadonna. A truly one of a kind pop veteran, Madonna has always done things her way. She’s just never been this easy to reach.
