
“There are tons of athletes with gold medals and world records, but people don’t even remember their names at the end of the day,” she explains. “If I can just inspire kids and have kids look at my story of when I didn’t even make the first Olympics in 2004 to how I accomplished
so much after that and use it as motivation to fight for their dreams, that’s all I’d like to leave behind.”Currently, Jones isn’t thinking too much beyond this year and is focusing all her energy into this year’s Games. Her plan for the year is to enter each race without much expectation so that she gets comfortable with her skills and can see what elements she needs to work on or tweak. “The prize is really being my best for the trials in June. But I love the challenge of it all. There’s nothing more thrilling in the world than when you have things in your way. That’s why I chose hurdles, I guess. I’m looking forward to getting in there and climbing my way to the top. And when I’m there, looking back and realizing how much hard work I had to put in to overcome each obstacle and just smile. ”
