French Blue Wine: An American Twist on Bordeaux

France has a way of capturing your heart and holds an undeniable romance.
Stephanie Rivin, the co-founder and winemaker for French Blue fell in love with France during a visit to Bordeaux in 2012.
After juggling making wine in France and California for several years she decided to relocate full-time to Bordeaux in 2018 with her husband, two young children, and their cat.
She now finds herself immersed in French culture and enjoying a balance in work and life.
Her time in Mendocino gave her an appreciation for the simple pleasures of everyday life, which led her to create French Blue. Looking at the complexity of how French wine was marketed in the United States, she felt that all the chateau names, the ranking, and the classification systems could be cumbersome for consumers to understand.
This is why it is featured in our Summer Gladness Issue!
We sampled the line which includes includes:
- Rosé,
- Sauvignon Blanc
- Bordeaux Rouge
- Crémant de Bordeaux, Brut, and Brut Rosé.
Editor’s Note:
For the price, French Blue is an excellent choice for to enjoy beyond the summer season. The Sauvignon Blanc is very crisp, the Brut is delightful and our favorite is the Bordeaux Rouge which is very bold.
With her new partner, C. Mondavi & Family, French Blue has become the best-selling Bordeaux wine in its price category.
