Slate, which has been in business in Chelsea since 2000, celebrated its 22nd birthday this month by raising the roof. Slate Rooftop opened in Williamsburg just in time for summer. Brooklyn’s only solar powered rooftop is a very special addition to The Pod Brooklyn Hotel.
This outdoor oasis is Brooklyn’s greenest rooftop bar. Solar panels supply power and recycle energy across the rooftop and courtyard beer garden. The Solar Panels on the Rooftop provide enough power to power the rooftop venue. There are two sides to the roof with approx 1800 square feet of solar panels.
Guests at the opening party were encouraged to take the lean and green way up to the rooftop to help conserve even more energy and catch some of the epic art on display from OG Millie and Colby Rosenthal. The stairway is an art lover’s stomping ground, with one-of-a-kind installations from the ground level, to the rooftop.
Slate Rooftop’s Executive Chef Darryl Harmon created a menu filled with shareable dishes including Beef Short Rib Birria Tacos, Philly Cheesesteak Empanadas, Korean Spicy Cauliflower, Crispy Mac N’ Cheese Bites and more. Artisanal Pizzas, Salads and Desserts are also available.
Froses are a mainstay on the drink menu in addition to four rotating beers on tap. Cocktails from Liquid Lab NYC include the Slate Smash with vodka, aperol, muddled raspberries & mint, lemon juice and simple syrup, Jenga Gingersnap with Earl Grey vodka, ginger beer, thyme infused ginger syrup, lime, crystallized ginger and fresh thyme, the Queen’s Gambit with bourbon, peach puree, honey syrup, lemon juice, peach bitters, a lemon wheel and rosemary, and more.
The new roof filled with fun and games is now open from the late afternoon, to the evening on weekdays and for brunch on the weekends. There’s also a massive, al fresco, dedicated private event space overlooking the NYC skyline ready for revelers to celebrate special occasions from.
