On Tuesday May 14th,YRB attended an event by Pernod Ricard, the global company behind wine and spirits brands including Absolut, Jameson, Malibu and Kahlua, that featured a live art battle between three of New York City’s celebrated graffiti artists.
The traditionally elusive global drinks company opened the doors of Manhattan’s first distillery since the prohibition, Our/New York—makers of Our/Vodka, an Absolut brand in Pernod Ricard’s portfolio—to kick off its Conviviality series, dedicated to bringing the French spirit of living and loving life to the U.S.
Our/New York is a small-batch, locally run vodka distillery located in the heart of Manhattan.
Our/Vodka is partly distilled, blended and hand bottled in micro distillery’s around the world, currently in Berlin, Detroit, Amsterdam, London, Los Angeles, New York and soon in Miami.
Each city has the same global recipe, but the use of ingredients sourced as locally as possible gives each vodka a subtle unique flavor.
Our/New York is managed by local skate wear entrepreneur and artist Dave Ortiz – a co-founder of DQM (Dave’s Quality Meats)
Artist Matt Litwack, Diogo Sales and Cary Petraglia battled it out on canvas as Our/New York’s bartenders served up six craft cocktail creations using Our/Vodka, Plymouth Gin, Beefeater, Olmeca Altos Plata tequila, and Smooth Ambler Whiskey
NAPKIN KILLA (@napkinkilla), the Bar Napkin Cartoon Assassin, created original cartoon portraits for guests.
Matt Litwack was chosen as the winner of the first Convivial Art Battle. Our/New York also took attendees on tours of its on-premise distillery.
