Event Recap: Hennessey Lunar New Year 2020 Celebration @hennessyus #YearoftheRat

On Tuesday, January 28th, Hennessy honored the start of a new cycle with a Lunar New Year Celebration at Public Arts in New York City.

The evening celebrated a groundbreaking collaboration with Chinese artist Zhang Huan, who unveiled artwork and special Lunar New Year editions of the Hennessy Collection.

To usher in the Year of the Rat, the festivities included a special performance from Chinese hip-hop artist Bohan Phoenix and classic dragon dance modernized with an LED light show set to soundtrack of DJ Toy.

ABOUT ZHANG HUAN
Born in Anyang, Henan, China in 1965, Zhang Huan is one of the most important contemporary artists working today. Since he burst onto the international art scene in the 1990s by staging performance art events in New York City, he has become equally well known for monumental sculptures and paintings, and particularly for his innovative use of mediums, such as incense ashes, in addition to more conventional materials. Zhang Huan is represented by one of the world’s most prestigious galleries, the PACE Gallery. He is based in Shanghai.

Hennessy Lunar New Year Collection

Hennessy is commemorating The Year of the Rat with a special Lunar New Year Limited Edition Collection (V.S.O.P, X.O) designed by internationally renowned Chinese artist, Zhang Huan. The vibrant design depicted on a limited run of bottles is based on Huan’s original artwork Eaux-de-Vie, which expresses a sense of joy and celebration for the start of the new cycle.
