When it comes to the art of capturing a moment through the lenses of a camera people can’t help but get chills with the inspirational work of Chi Modu. The renowned photographer announced a three day exhibit, “Hip Hop – The Defining Years” that will be held in New York City later on this month. Starting on October 28th and ending on the 30th, Modu will be showcasing a collection of his outstanding images at Culture Fix, a gallery and bar in the Lower Eastside of Manhattan. With an exclusive opportunity to look at some never published images taken of iconic artists the Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur, other features will be focusing on Modu’s travel pieces which he has been documenting for the last decade. Born in Nigeria but raised in New Jersey, Modu’s fixation on the hip hop culture and photography made him an easy candidate for the position of Director of Photography at the then highly distinguished magazine The Source. Having such an artistic charisma to him, Modu was able to build enticing rapports with hip hop’s greatest artists which helped him truly be able to capture some of the music’s most iconic pictures.
Make sure to take time out of your schedule to enjoy “Hip Hop – The Defining Years” at Culture Fix located at 9 Clinton Street (below East Houston). The exhibition will be open to the public on Oct. 28-30 from 5 Pm to 1 AM.
