Trying to find a good Southern food spot in NYC’s Lower East Side? Look no further than Bobwhite Lunch and Supper Counter on Avenue C and 6th Street. The new lunch and dinner spot has added a healthy twist to the southern food craze of 2011.
Just because it’s healthy doesn’t mean the flavor is lacking. The chicken is cooked in a pressure fryer, which reduces the calories and keeps the meat moist. Both the pork chop sandwich and the fried, or grilled, chicken come with a side salad and biscuits. The restaurant also makes their own cayenne honey that tastes good on everything they serve.
If you’re just craving a traditional Southern dessert, they’ve got those too. Chef Amanda Beame prepares red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and banana cream pie parfaits in house daily.
If you are in the LES and looking for somewhere to go for a quick and affordable bite, we strongly suggest you check this place out. They also deliver from E 14th Street to Houston and First Avenue to Avenue D.
